However, modern air conditioning as we know it today was first developed in the early 1900s. In 1902, a young engineer named Willis Carrier invented the first modern air conditioning system. Carrier was working for a printing company in Brooklyn, New York, and was trying to solve a problem with humidity affecting the quality of the paper. Carrier's invention used a refrigeration system to cool air and remove moisture, creating a more comfortable and consistent environment for the printing process.
